Virgil Abloh certainly knows how to create hype. The American designer often gets the social media hive buzzing before any of his latest catwalk shows or new releases, but his latest tease has sent fans into overdrive. The entrepreneur, who is artistic director of Louis Vuitton menswear as well as chief executive of Off-White, has hinted that his long-anticipated collaboration on a reimagined pair of zingy yellow Nike Air Jordans could soon hit shelves. Abloh, who founded fashion house Off-White in 2012, first teamed up with the sportswear brand in 2017, redesigning a number of Nike's signature sneaker styles. Dubbed “The Ten”, the popular collection featured his iterations of staples such as the Air Force 1 and the Air Jordan 1. Then, in 2019, Abloh unveiled a series of unreleased Off-White x Nike samples as part of his exhibition, Figures of Speech, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Among them was an Off-White x Air Jordan 1 design in canary yellow, which fans have been petitioning the designer to release ever since. And, according to Abloh's website, they may soon have their wish. The designer posted seven pixelated designs, all titled 'actually pending', to Public Domain, a website which brings together his past, present and future endeavours. Eagle-eyed visitors spied the Air Jordans from the 2019 exhibition among them, though Nike nor Off-White have yet confirmed the second chapter of their collaboration is set to drop. According to Hypebeast, Futura's two Off-White x Nike Dunk Lows can also be glimpsed. No information on release dates has yet been given. Abloh's hint follows news that French luxury house Louis Vuitton is the world's most-Googled fashion brand. Conducted by Money.co.uk, the survey used Google data from the past 12 months to place Vuitton firmly at the number one spot for most searched-for brand with an impressive 47 countries worldwide, including the UAE, UK, Singapore, South Africa and Australia. Founded in 1854, Louis Vuitton has enjoyed huge growth from its early days as a maker of high-end luggage to a modern powerhouse in the luxury fashion industry. Its women’s collections have been designed by Nicolas Ghesquiere since 2013, while the men’s collections came under the control of Abloh in 2018.
