Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism has announced the line-up of events for Al Ain’s new season of cultural programmes, with activities across Al Ain Oasis, Al Jahili Fort, Qasr Al Muwaiji, Al Ain Palace Museum, Al Ain Museum, Al Qattara Arts Centre, Souq Al Qattara, as well as around the city.
The programme extends across educational and recreational activities beginning this month and running until May 2018 and will highlight the city as the cultural heartland of the nation.
Programmes such as Travel Through Our Traditions, My Old House Tour, and Museums by Night will allow the public exclusive access to the most intimate aspects of Emirati living traditions, through the homes of the Al Ain community and other hidden spaces of Al Ain’s historic sites such as those fort’s and historic houses that offer a peek into the past.

In the heart of the city, Al Ain Oasis will host the return of Weekends at the Oasis, running every weekend between November 17 to March 31. Weekends at the Oasis is a communal marketplace where families can enjoy traditional performances, screenings of pop culture films and shows from the 80s and 90s, food trucks, live cooking, traditional and contemporary crafts workshops inspired by the Oasis, plus activities such as horse riding.
A host of other activities over the nine months of the programme will take on architecture, poetry, art, culture, history, tradition, music, comedy and more.
HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, director general, of the Department of Culture and Tourism, said: “Building on the success of the initial phase of the Al Ain programme, which attracted an audience of almost a quarter of a million visitors, it’s a great pleasure to return with an even more diverse cultural programme.”
