American company Rover has released its list of the 10 most popular male and female cat and dog names. If you're pet parent to a Luna, Bella or a Charlie, you have popular taste. Bella and Luna make the top two female pet names for cats and dogs, with Bella the more popular canine choice and Luna topping the feline list. Lucy is in third place on both lists. As for male pet names, the lists have their fair share of crossovers, with Charlie, Jack, Max and Milo appearing on each. So if I was stuck for inspiration when trying to name my female cocker spaniel, for example, the company suggests Lacey, as "a top trending name for your dog's breed and gender" and Bella, "the most popular dog name for your dog's breed and gender." Veering away to chart-topping popular names, it also suggests Betty White, a name "handpicked" as "fun and fresh". The online pet product marketplace has also identified pet naming trends. Animals named after <em>Game of Thrones</em> characters were on the up, Arya made the top 100 dog names, and Robb, Melisandre and Brienne were also trending this year. Musical name are also flagged as popular. Taylor Swift, Khalid and Beyonce are popular pet names, along with David Bowie and Lady Gaga.
