Visitors check out a Jaguar car, that was used to drive late Queen Elizabeth II around Aden in 1954, on display at the Military Museum in Sana'a, Yemen, 25 May 2023. Among the Aden motorcade of late British Queen Elizabeth II, two Ford and Jaguar 420 cars are on display at the Military and National Museums in Sana'a. The British queen's death has prompted some Yemenis to remember her visit to the southern part of their country in 1954. The two cars were used to drive Queen Elizabeth II around Aden in April 1954 during her visit to south Yemen as a part of a six-month tour of the Commonwealth just two years into the monarch's reign, according to museum officials and documents. At the time, south Yemen was a colony of the British Empire, until British forces left in 1967. The two cars were transferred from the southern Yemeni city of Aden to the capital Sana'a in the mid 90's after a civil war broke out in Aden. Queen Elizabeth II died on 08 September 2022, at the age of 96. EPA / YAHYA ARHAB
