Kuwait green drive: Residents plant trees in afforestation scheme — in pictures

Afforestation campaign begins at roundabout in Mesayel district

The campaign is part of a national initiative to turn Kuwait's capital into a greener city

It was launched by a number of Kuwaiti youths at the roundabout in Mesayel district

Residents of the area turned out in their numbers to support the initiative

The theme of the campaign is 'With our hands, we change it'

The tree-planting campaign is focused on areas that lack vegetation

Sidr Nature Reserve founder Obaid Al Shemmari said the initiative aims to turn Mesayel into a model area

The campaign is the brainchild of Mr Al Shemmari, environmental activists Mariam Jarkhi and Mahmoud Bugammaz, and Yousef Al Omran

Volunteers will also plant trees along the streets of Mesayel district
