The Crown Prince Camel Race heats up in Taif, Saudi Arabia — in pictures

The competition between participants from different Gulf and international countries is taking place over 44 days

The race seeks to promote the heritage of camel racing in the Arab world and play a role in supporting tourism in Saudi Arabia.

The competition, which began on July 22, takes place over 44 days.

More than 56 million Saudi riyals ($14.9m) in prize money is up for grabs.

The competition has contributed to Saudi Arabia being one of the top destinations in the world when it comes to camel sports.

Participants from different countries in the Gulf and around the world are participating.
