There’s a high degree of polish in Taller Marmo’s latest collection of column dresses, skirts and robes, which Riccardo Audisio and Yago Goicoechea, the men behind the Dubai-based womenswear label, said were inspired by Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft.
The aesthetic was athleticism – the models were wearing trainers – though what sport the designers had in mind was unclear.
Most excellent was an oversized blazer that reached the knee. “The significant lapels and shoulder pads are a reference to the working women in the Eighties,” the duo said in their statement.
Several pieces also featured bow accents that were too playful, they ended up being distracting. The robes and light trench coats, Taller Marmo’s tribute to the abaya, were also a highlight.
