The UAE reported 1,287 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, the first time daily cases have dipped below 1,300 since May 18. Recoveries exceeded new infections for the third day in a row as 1,413 people beat the virus. Another six patients died after contracting Covid-19, raising the death toll in the Emirates to 1,988. The UAE has recorded 696,906 infections and 674,162 recoveries since the outbreak began. The number of active cases stands at 20,756. The fall in infections – down from the 1,334 cases reported on Tuesday – came despite a record day of testing. Authorities said 318,383 PCR tests were conducted during the previous 24 hours, up from the 260,783 announced the previous day. The UAE first passed 300,000 daily tests on June 30 and regularly screens more than 250,000 people each day. More than 68.7 million tests have so far been carried out as part of a mass screening strategy. <br/>
