Clarks reveals refreshingly stylish shoes for autumn

Let’s face it – Clarks has never really topped our list of fashion-forward footwear brands. But the collection shown yesterday at its 190th anniversary celebrations at The Empty Quarter Gallery in DIFC was an unexpected treat.

Designs for women have been given a punky uplift, with the inclusion of metallic brogues, tasselled platform loafers and cut-out buckled ankle boots in the collection. Designs are right on trend for the season, and show an edgy, but much-welcomed shift in focus for the brand.

At the event, digital illustrator Ruth Burrows worked live to create customised prints for guests, who could select their favourite shoe shape and shoe-related quote, and leave with a new piece of wall art. The overall vibe was lively and youthful – a refreshing venture into a new direction for Clarks.

Visitors were given a sneak peak of the upcoming spring/summer 2016 collection, too, which incorporates classic Mary Jane styles, as well as modern, leather-fringed slingbacks in monochrome tones, topped off with pretty little pearls.

The autumn/winter designs are now available in shops.
