Paragon Entertainment, a UK-based fit-out firm that specialises in producing displays for museums and leisure attractions, has signed a deal with a division of Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) to help design and build leisure attractions.
The company said that it had entered into a framework agreement with Majid Al Futtaim Leisure and Entertainment to provide design and build services around existing venues including Magic Planet, Ski Dubai, Little Explorers and the Wahooo Water Park.
It added that it would also be working with MAF to develop new concepts.
Paragon said that it is already working with MAF on projects in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, as well as in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah.
The company has previously worked on projects in the Middle East including the Horse Museum in Dubai, Ski Dubai and on theming concepts at Atlantis on Palm Jumeirah.
Mark Pyrah, the chief executive of Paragon, declined to comment on the MAF deal, stating that the details were confidential.
However, in a statement to the London Stock Exchange, he said: “We are delighted to be working with MAF to create the very best leisure and entertainment across the Mena region, and this framework agreement allows us to provide the very best support for this impressive client.”
Last week, the company announced a net loss of £980,000 (Dh5.6 million) for 2014. Sales declined by 19 per cent to £7.7m.
Last year, the company expanded its presence in the Middle East and agreed a deal with Dubai-based project manager Incorp Design to partner on projects throughout the GCC.
The executive chairman Mark Taylor said the relationship with Incorp Design was “delivering excellent opportunities and projects and making a significant difference to our potential pipeline”.

TEACHERS' PAY - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Pay varies significantly depending on the school, its rating and the curriculum. Here's a rough guide as of January 2021:
- top end schools tend to pay Dh16,000-17,000 a month - plus a monthly housing allowance of up to Dh6,000. These tend to be British curriculum schools rated 'outstanding' or 'very good', followed by American schools
- average salary across curriculums and skill levels is about Dh10,000, recruiters say
- it is becoming more common for schools to provide accommodation, sometimes in an apartment block with other teachers, rather than hand teachers a cash housing allowance
- some strong performing schools have cut back on salaries since the pandemic began, sometimes offering Dh16,000 including the housing allowance, which reflects the slump in rental costs, and sheer demand for jobs
- maths and science teachers are most in demand and some schools will pay up to Dh3,000 more than other teachers in recognition of their technical skills
- at the other end of the market, teachers in some Indian schools, where fees are lower and competition among applicants is intense, can be paid as low as Dh3,000 per month
- in Indian schools, it has also become common for teachers to share residential accommodation, living in a block with colleagues
