Shah Rukh Khan springs surprises on unsuspecting people in new Dubai tourism video

DUBAI // Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan surprises people at Dubai’s hottest attractions in his latest tourism video for the emirate released on Friday.

The 3 minute, 12 second ad published on Visit Dubai’s YouTube account opens in the spice souk where SRK is covertly dressed in a black hoodie as he strolls among unsuspecting visitors sampling spices. With a coy smile, he turns to the camera and says, “This is my Dubai. Come with me”.

The next clip takes the viewer to one of emirate’s top experiences: Skydive Dubai. The Indian superstar hops onto a small propeller plane filled with excited young skydivers who gasp in disbelief as they watch him enter the cabin.

“What?” says a young woman as she smiles and clasps her hands over her mouth.

“Oh my God,” says a male skydiver.

Khan is seen dropping out of the plane in a tandem jump over the Palm Jumeirah.

The 51-year-old then visits Kite Beach, where he catches up with a very surprised jogger and joins a beach volleyball game, even diving in the sand to block the opponent’s strike as spectators catch the action on their mobile phones. In the evening, dressed in an elegant suit, SRK visits Level Shoes District in Dubai Mall, where a giddy shopper reaches out to touch his hand in disbelief.

At a high-end restaurant, he pretends to be a finely dressed waiter who delights astonished guests as he serves their meals. One woman, so moved by his surprise appearance, reaches out with both hands and plants a kiss on his cheek.

The video concludes with a night scene at the Dubai Fountain where Khan turns to the camera and says, “This is my Dubai. Be my guest”.

Less than 24 hours after the video was posted, it had already been watched more than 53,500 times.

Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing chief executive Issam Kazim said Khan “truly represents the beautiful relationship that Dubai and India share”.

“In line with our vision of hosting 20 million visitors per year by 2020, our tourism efforts are increasing every year, with a major emphasis on the Indian market. We are excited to invite Indians from all over the world to experience Shah Rukh Khan’s Dubai for themselves.”
