Fireworks and laser show will ring in New Year at Downtown Dubai

A stunning fireworks display and laser show has been planned to light up Downtown Dubai on New Year’s Eve, developer Emaar properties has said.

A six-part firework, laser and light show will cover Downtown Dubai, while the LED screens wrapped around the Burj Khalifa will create one of the brightest illuminations ever seen, reported Wam, the state news agency.

In the first act of the show, gold and silver strobe lights will illuminate the tower, followed by fireworks launched from buildings across Downtown Dubai.

The second act will dress the Burj in colourful rings and volcanic waves, while the third will create a constellation of twinkling golden stars. The fourth will feature a wave of cyclonic light effects enveloping the Burj. The final two acts will see quivering light sequins cover the tower.

Visitors can watch from various vantage points in Burj Park and Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard. It will also be shown on live streaming on YouTube.

Authorities have recommended taking public transport to arrive at the venue, with the Roads and Transport Authority planning to extend the operational hours of the Dubai Metro.
