DUBAI // A company that makes interactive puzzles has launched its second escape game, with participants calling it challenging and fun.

Escape Quest in Jumeirah Lakes Towers devised the game where the goal is to free yourself from Dr Zol Pasted’s Laboratory as quickly as you can while using as few hints as possible, within 60 minutes.

Zoe Masey, its creator, said Googling for an answer would be of no use to participants, who instead are forced to work as a team and use their wits.

Omar Moussa, 26, said it was much more challenging than Ms Masey’s first game, The Explorer’s Library.

“I cannot imagine someone escaping the room with no clues from the creator,” he said. “We were three people and, at some points, we would be standing there dumbfounded, so we would request more clues.

“It was so much fun, though, and it really gets you excited after a long day of work.”

Ms Masey said that since the second game’s launch in the summer only two teams have been able to make it out with no clues at all.

“This escape game is completely different. Customers have told me that the Dr Zol’s Lab is a little more challenging than the first and more interactive,” she said.

For Dr Zol’s Laboratory, Ms Masey integrated responses when clues are put together.

Nisreen Tareef, 29, said that she was impressed by how well made the game was.

“Just walking into the room gets you excited,” she said. “There are so many contraptions that had been wonderfully put together, and you just never know what to expect or what you’re going to discover.”

Ms Masey said she plans to launch a third room by March next year but would keep the details under wraps until the game is launched.

“Dr Zol’s Lab took me about four months to create, and I’m so excited about the third one,” she said.

Escape Quest is open seven days a week from 10am to 11pm and prices range from Dh120 to Dh140 per person, depending on the size of the group. Teams are made up of between two and five people.
