For diners at the world's highest restaurant, due to open today in the Burj Khalifa, the bill will be as stratospheric as the setting.
Patrons will be expected to spend a minimum of Dh450 (US$122.52) a head for dinner at At.mosphere Grill & Lounge on the 122nd floor of the Burj Khalifa, according to the reservations hotline.
Lunch featuring an "eclectic European cuisine" will cost at least Dh300, while those who want to sit in the lounge for drinks or snacks will need to spend a minimum of Dh200 per person.
At.mosphere is "a one of a kind restaurant located in the world's tallest building" and the prices "reflect the superior lifestyle experience awaiting guests", said a spokesman for Emaar Hospitality Group, which runs the restaurant.
Emaar expects the location, which its has billed as the highest restaurant in the world and which overlooks Dubai and the waters of the Gulf, to be its prime attraction.
"Given the location of At.mosphere, at a height of 442 metres in the world's tallest building, we expect a steady flow of visitors," the spokesman said. "The restaurant is already almost fully booked for the first week after opening."
As of yesterday afternoon, the dinner service At.mosphere was fully booked for January 23 and 24, apart from cancellations. The restaurant is due to open for lunch guests from next Tuesday, its reservations clerk said.
Emaar plans to apply to Guinness World Records to recognise it as the world's highest restaurant, the spokesman added.
The restaurant and lounge occupy about 1,030 square metres and can host more than 210 diners. At.mosphere is two floors below Burj Khalifa's observation deck, called At The Top.
