AL AIN // Al Ain Zoo is offering a night-time summer programme to provide visitors with an escape from the daytime heat.
People will be able to rent night-vision goggles to allow them to experience how animals behave differently at night.
Experts at the zoo will lead discussions on the Abu Dhabi summer mascot, the turtle.
Live crocodile feedings under supervision of their keepers are also scheduled. The “night zoo” will also include live bird shows and weekly educational film screenings are to be shown at the Parrot Tent, with several feedings scheduled in the evenings – “leaving the animals energetic and lively for night-time visitors”, the zoo said.
The facility also has a number of special offers, including deals with Wadi Adventure – an Al Ain tourism company that offers kayaking, rafting, surfing, wake-boarding and climbing, among other activities.
The zoo announced last week that it plans to renovate its aviary, improving air conditioning for the birds and educational graphics for visitors. The work is expected to be completed in five months.
The zoo is open daily from 4pm to 10pm and from 6pm to midnight during Ramadan.
