After eight years of working abroad, a team of Emirati engineers tasked with designing the first all-Emirati satellite are now back in the UAE.
The team, from the Emirates Institute of Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST), have been working in an exchange programme in South Korea since 2006, where they developed DubaiSat-1 and DubaiSat-2 while working closely with Satrec Initiative.
Since 2013, the team have been utilising the Koreans’ facilities for the development of the KhalifaSat Engineering Model, which they will now continue to develop in the UAE.
