ABU DHABI // Abu Dhabi TV has won three Digital Studio Awards at the CABSAT 2017 Dubai exhibition, including acclaim for its National Geographic documentary Mission Everest.
The documentary, produced in collaboration with the General Command of the Armed Forces, won an award for best production and live filming.
The documentary chronicles the scaling of Mount Everest by the first-ever Emirati team, beginning the journey from when they reach the main base camp to their triumph at the tallest mountain peak in the world at 8,848 metres above sea level.
Abdul Hadi Al Sheikh, executive director of television at Abu Dhabi Media, won the Best Broadcast Chief Executive 2017 award, while Abu Dhabi TV also won the award for Best Technical Application.
HE Mohamed Ebraheem Al Mahmood, Chairman and Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Media, said the awards acknowledge the UAE on a global stage, “ensuring that the UAE is recognised at a competitive global level within the industry”.

What is graphene?
Graphene is extracted from graphite and is made up of pure carbon.
It is 200 times more resistant than steel and five times lighter than aluminum.
It conducts electricity better than any other material at room temperature.
It is thought that graphene could boost the useful life of batteries by 10 per cent.
Graphene can also detect cancer cells in the early stages of the disease.
The material was first discovered when Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov were 'playing' with graphite at the University of Manchester in 2004.
