Sony has revealed its new flagship smartphone, a week ahead of Apple's announcement of its new phones.
The Xperia Z5 Premium Dual will feature the world’s first 4K UHD display, Sony said.
“Xperia Z5 Premium Dual will upscale your favourite content to 4K, enhancing any native or third-party videos or photos so you can view Netflix, YouTube or your holiday shots in rich, vibrant 4K detail,” it said.
The device has a 5.5-inch screen and comes with a quick-charge option, which Sony said provides 5.5 hours of useage from 10 minutes of charging. The 23MP Exmoor camera "is capable of the fastest autofocus in a smartphone", it said.
Sony will also be releasing Xperia Z5 Dual and Z5 Compact versions which will be launched globally from mid-October, while the Xperia Z5 Premium Dual will be available a month later. No prices have been announced.
Apple, meanwhile, is expected to unveil the iPhone 6S and 6 Plus at an event on September 9.
