Emaar Properties is reshaping its organisational structure with a focus on project management.
The company that developed Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower, said it was boosting it project management capabilities but would continue to develop property projects in Dubai and other international markets as it strengthens its presence in the shopping malls, hospitality and leisure sectors.
“As Dubai builds its future as a smart, sustainable city and a preferred place to live, work and visit, Emaar is creating a fresh template for its sustained growth and value creation,” said Mohamed Alabbar, the Emaar chairman.
The changes were widely anticipated as the top management at Emaar had been evolving over the past few months.
Several top executives have been moved to the Abu Dhabi developer Eagle Hills, also headed by Mr Alabbar. Among them is Low Ping, who was the former group chief executive at Emaar Properties.
Robert Booth, the former chief of Emaar Dubai Real Estate, is now working as an adviser to the Emaar chairman.
The developer on Wednesday said that Noel Madigan, who was formerly with Dubai-based contractor Habtoor Leighton Group, will head the project planning and programming department. He will be responsible for “project management programmes and ensuring the timely completion and on-schedule delivery of Emaar’s projects department”.
Amit Jain, the former executive director of finance and group chief financial officer at Emaar, has been promoted to group chief operations officer and chief executive at Emaar Dubai.
Mr Jain will be responsible for the overall operations and financial matters for the group with a special focus on the Dubai operations, the company said.
As part of the overhaul, Emaar also set up a customer relationship management department, which will be “responsible for developing customer loyalty to the company’s products and services by regularly analysing internal and market data”.
Last year, the Dubai-listed company announced several new projects, including the Dubai Creek Harbour at The Lagoons community, the mixed-use development Dubai Hills Estate with Meraas Holding, the expansion of Arabian Ranches and The Opera District in Downtown Dubai.
