Oxfam operates a region-wide campaign

Oxfam's programme in the Palestinian Territories focuses on improving the livelihoods of people and their communities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Among its many initiatives, the organisation works with women's co-operatives from the West Bank to produce honey and olive tapenade through its Enterprise Development Programme. In the Palestinian Territories, Oxfam also works on community development and public health, ensures access to food and resources, increases access to markets and empowers civil society in Israel.

In the wider Middle East, Oxfam has a programme in Lebanon with women's farming co-operatives and works with Palestinian refugees in the country. Through its local partner, the Palestinian Arab Women League, the organisation is helping people to rebuild their livelihoods after the July 2006 war.

In Iraq, it is strengthening civil society through the Italian Consortium of Solidarity, promoting women's rights, providing basic emergency services with Première Urgence and addressing conflicts between Palestinian refugees and the host community living in the Baladiyyat area of Baghdad. The organisation also works closely with NGOs at policy level to ensure the rights of the Iraqi people, and it is on the board of the NGO Co-ordination Committee for Iraq.

In Yemen, Oxfam focuses on strengthening women's rights. It also seeks to make health care more affordable, represents the rights of poor people and strengthens communities' abilities to respond to crises such as flash floods, drought and earthquakes. Its work in Yemen is funded by the UK's department for international development.
