Manar Mall in Ras Al Khaimah set to double in size

Manar Mall in Ras Al Khaimah is set to double in size following the award of a Dh230 million contract to Sun Engineering & Contractors.

Al Hamra Real Estate Development, the developer behind the shopping centre, said its net leasable area would double to 60,000 square metres following the expansion.

Work is about to start on the project and is expected to complete by the third quarter of 2016.

Cadiz International is the designer behind the mall refurbishment and expansion, while Shankland Cox is lead consultant. The expansion will involve the arrival of a number of new brands to the mall, which is already home to Carrefour, Marks & Spencer, H&M, Paris Gallery and Novo Cinemas.

A booming tourism sector is encouraging the revival of property development in the country’s northernmost emirate, which was hit hard by the 2008 real estate crash. Al Hamra Village covers an area of 77 million square feet and includes 1.5 kilometres of beach, more than 1,000 houses, 2,500 apartments and five hotels.
