Lamborghini made from gold: world’s most expensive model car on display in Dubai

The world’s most expensive model car, a Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, is on sale for a mere Dh26,7 million, having been carved from a 500g solid block of gold.

The model can be seen in the form of a 25-inch, 22-carat gold prototype on display at the Lamborghini showroom in Dubai and is destined for the Guinness Book of Records for the world’s most expensive and precious model car, world’s most secure showcase and world’s most luxurious logo.

The prototype will be at the Dubai Motor Show in November and will also be heading to Abu Dhabi on its world tour.

The interior and exterior of the final version will feature US$2.9m worth of precious metals and gems, with encrusted headlights and seats with the precious stones woven in.

Built in Germany by Robert Wilhelm Gulpen, the car is set to be auctioned to the public but can be bought beforehand if the asking price is met, with $650,000 reserved for charity.

He wrote on his website that the car’s “rims are cast from solid gold and platinum, and so is the entire interior, with seats, cockpit and steering wheel. Flawless high-carat gemstones round off the model in style and class.”
