Growing up in the UK, I used to watch a children's TV show called Record Breakers, which was all about weird and wonderful feats of human greatness.
It was perfect for idle children on a weekday afternoon.
The end of the show was always dedicated to breaking a world record in the studio, so my brothers and I would be treated to seeing someone try to balance a Mini car on their head or bang as many drums in a minute as possible.
These days, it seems the easiest way to break a record is to buy a bunch of diamonds and just glue them to a fashion accessory.
But that might be doing Mouawad, one of the top jewellery designers and manufacturers in the Middle East, a bit of a disservice.
Last year, the jeweller unveiled the world's most expensive handbag, the 1001 Nights Diamond Purse, worth US$3.8 million (Dh13.95m) and last month it went one better by debuting a $6.8m watch called the Snow White Princess Diamond Watch at the Doha Jewellery and Watch Exhibition.
When the Seven Dwarfs rescued a lost Snow White in the forest, it seems unlikely they were aware of just how much the girl was worth .
There are not that many people in the world who can afford such a watch, but on the off chance they are reading this column, here are some details: It was created in Mouawad's Swiss Alpine factory from 18 carat white gold. It is layered with 233 diamonds of varying sizes - a total of 106.93 carats.
"After last year's unveiling of the Guinness World Record-holding Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse, we wanted once again to surprise and delight exhibition goers and make their visit memorable," says Pascal Mouawad, one of the owners of Mouawad.
Creating a $6.8m watch in a five minute slot at the end of a UK children's TV show would have delighted me more. But even at that price, it is still not a record breaker. That honour last year went to the 201-carat Chopard - at a cool $25m.
