Etihad Cargo starts twice-a-week flights to Brussels

Etihad Cargo started a twice weekly flight to Brussels aAirport, few months after the city’s international hub was subjected to a terrorist attack.

The flights to Brussels, operated by A330 freighter, will serbe Etihad’s connections across Europe and into Africa, the Abu Dhabi airline said.

“Brussels Airport will further benefit Etihad Cargo’s operations with its dedicated infrastructure for the transport and handling of products that require an unbroken cold chain,” said Etihad. “Particularly pharmaceutical products and perishables,” it added.

In 2015, Etihad Cargo launched a service called “TempCheck” that ensures that all temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products including blood plasma, tablets and medicines are transported in compliance with regulatory guidelines.

In March, an attack on Brussels airport and another attack at a subway station in the European city, left 31 dead and 300 wounded. ISIL claimed responsibility for the attacks, which had a disruptive impact on the European travel market causing demand to rise by a mere 1.8 per cent in April, down from the 6 per cent growth recorded in March.
