Emirates said that it plans to increase its capacity to London by adding a 10 daily flight to the British capital starting on October 1.
The new service will be Emirates’ fourth daily flight to London Gatwick, and will be in addition to the six daily services to Heathrow airport.
The 10th flight will take the Emirates’ total weekly services to London to 70. Emirates will operate on the route using a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in a three-class configuration.
The Dubai-airline started flying to Gatwick airport in July 1987; since then over 10 million passengers have travelled on the route.
“With British expats forming the largest western community in Dubai, it’s not surprising to witness continued strong demand for travel between Dubai and the five cities we currently serve in the UK,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president, commercial operations, west.

His life in brief: Born in a village near Galilee, he lived in exile for most of his life and started writing poetry after high school. He was arrested several times by Israel for what were deemed to be inciteful poems. Most of his work focused on the love and yearning for his homeland, and he was regarded the Palestinian poet of resistance. Over the course of his life, he published more than 30 poetry collections and books of prose, with his work translated into more than 20 languages. Many of his poems were set to music by Arab composers, most significantly Marcel Khalife. Darwish died on August 9, 2008 after undergoing heart surgery in the United States. He was later buried in Ramallah where a shrine was erected in his honour.
