Emirates Airline to fly Airbus A380 to Iran

Emirates Airline is to operate a one-off flight with its flagship Airbus A380 to Tehran.

The Dubai-based carrier is celebrating the launch of its fourth daily flight between the two cities, which started on September 1.

The special flight will take place on September 30, with Emirates saying in a statement that it is reinforcing its commitment to Iran.

“Emirates began flights to Tehran in the Islamic Republic of Iran when the airline was only five years old, and now it has become the latest airport on our network to welcome our flagship A380,” said Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president, Commercial Operations Centre.

Emirates currently flies 52 A380s to 30 destinations. Its president, Tim Clark, said earlier this week that the airline is planning an expansion that would make the United States one of its largest revenue sources as it scouts new cities to add to its network.
