The United Arab Emirates and Austria discussed deepening economic and political ties during a meeting in Vienna on Thursday.

UAE minister of state  Dr Sultan Al Jaber and Austrian chancellor Sebastian Kurz held talks about strengthening co-operation in the commercial, investment and energy sectors, UAE's state news agency WAM reported.

Dr Al Jaber discussed developing relations in the fields of hydrocarbon and renewables, petrochemicals, economy, IT, trade, education and tourism, WAM said.

The meeting came as Dr Al Jaber, who is also the group chief executive of oil major Adnoc, was visting the Austrian capital during the OPEC meeting. The oil ministers have reached an agreement in principle to boost oil production, achieving a last-minute compromise that overcame Iran’s threats to veto any supply hike.
