Nine high-risk industrial entities complied with Abu Dhabi's occupational safety and health standards in the first quarter of this year taking the total number of approvals in the emirate to 467, according to the capital's Department of Economic Development (Added). The results were part of a report issued by Industrial Development Bureau’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) division for the first three months of the year. The division assesses industrial entities for occupational risk and completes technical reviews of their Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems (OSHMS) against the organisation’s requirements and issues approval certificates to compliant entities. Sixty-one serious occupational incidents in the industrial sector were reported to the HSE Division, in the first quarter, the report found, with the HSE Division successfully inspecting 205 industrial entities and reviewing 127 technical documents during the same period. Mohammed Munif Al Mansouri, IDB’s executive director, said the HSE Division conducts routine and non-routine visits to check and verify the status of entities’ industrial licences. A Business Continuity Plan Guideline, which includes key topics like human resources management, operations, job tasks, supply chain procedures, customer service and internal and external communication, has been developed to minimise health risks for employees working in industrial facilities, which in turn reduces the risk of the Covid-19 spreading in the workplace, added Mr Al Mansouri.
