Drydocks World breaks new record in Dubai

Drydocks World, a service provider to the shipping, offshore, oil, gas and energy sectors, handled 37 projects at its Dubai yard last month, beating its previous record of 35 vessels handled in a month, it said.

“Since January 2015 Drydocks World has increased the rate of vessel completion, with 33 per cent more vessels leaving the yard in March,” the company said. “Drydocks World had a workforce of approximately 9,000 attending to these 37 projects.”

Drydocks, a unit of the conglomerate Dubai World, service dredgers, rigs, gas carriers, tankers and container ships as part of the projects in the yard. Its clients include Chevron Shipping, Technip, Saudi Aramco, Shelf Drilling, Saipem, the National Drilling Company, Excelerate Energy and Aban Offshore. Last month, Drydocks simultaneously berthed a record 11 rigs in the Dubai yard. That was up from the previous record of nine rigs in February. The company says it is trying to be one of the leading offshore yards in the region.
