Sales at Al Tayer Motors, one of the biggest car dealers in UAE, accelerated in the first quarter of the year as its range of models grew in popularity.
The dealer, which sells Ford, Lincoln, Ferrari, Maserati, Land Rover and Jaguar vehicles, grew sales revenues 57 per cent in the first three months of the year compared with the same period last year.
Its Land Rover showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai was also the highest-selling dealership in the world last year for the Range Rover brand.
"We have enjoyed a very good start to 2012, which can be attributed to the strong line-up of vehicles across various categories, excellent after-sales support and value-added packages offered on our vehicles," said Ashok Khanna, the chief executive of Al Tayer Motors.
Sales of the luxury brands, such as Ferrari and Maserati, were up by an average of 40 per cent in the period and sales of Ford vehicles were up by 60 per cent.
"This strong performance is in line with our projections for the period," said Mr Khanna.
Ford has been on a huge marketing and advertising campaign in the Middle East, launching new models and displaying cutting-edge technology, such as cars that park themselves. The manufacturer reported a 37 per cent growth in GCC retail sales in the first quarter compared with the same period last year.
This performance comes on the back of the best-ever year for Ford in the region last year, with full year sales up by 50 per cent on the previous year.
Al Tayer Motors is on an expansion drive across the country, planning to build showrooms and service centres closer to residential communities.
It recently announced the commencement of work on a new facility in Sharjah, at a cost of Dh125 million (US$34m), which is expected to be ready in the second half of next year.
Combined sales for Jaguar and Land Rover in the UAE in first quarter of this year were up 40 per cent on the same period last year.
