Ali & Sons, the distributor of Audi and Volkswagen cars in Abu Dhabi, plans to open a US$27 million workshop in Mussafah that will include the largest Audi-approved used car showroom in the Middle East, the company said yesterday.
The company said that construction work would start by June as it had received approval from Abu Dhabi Municipality.
The car dealer, however, did not provide an opening date for the workshop, but it will be capable of displaying 60 cars.
“The new workshop and used car complex in Mussafah will bring the entire capital region within easy coverage of our outlets, giving our customers comfortable access to our vehicles and facilities,” said Ahmed Al Dhaheri, the chairman of Ali & Sons Audi.
The old workshop, which was shared by both VW and Audi, will be used exclusively by VW when the new workshop is completed, the dealer said.
Ali & Sons, which has a showroom in the capital on the Corniche, plans to open one in Al Rawdat this year and another in Mussafah Complex in 2017 as demand for the German luxury brand grows in the UAE.
The Corniche showroom will be completely refurbished next year.
Last year, the car maker sold 1.4 million cars globally. In the Middle East sales increased 5 per cent to 11,130 units. Figures for the UAE, however, were not available.
As part of Audi’s expansion plans, the car maker will be investing €24 billion (Dh100.2bn) from now until 2019, with 70 per cent of it going towards the development of new models and technologies.
