The director general of Dubai's Financial Audit Department has become the third high-profile departure from the emirate's public service in as many days.
Yasser Abdullah Amiri's resignation was accepted by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, in his capacity as chairman of the financial audit department.
No reason was given for Mr Amiri's departure, and no successor has been named. A report yesterday on Wam, the state news agency, did not say whether Mr Amiri would be assuming a different post elsewhere.
The Financial Audit Department could not be reached for comment. The Dubai media office declined to comment.
The announcement of Mr Amiri's departure came two days after a series of decrees issued by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, mandating personnel changes for the Dubai Courts.
Retiring from the courts are Ahmed Saeed bin Hazeem as general manager and Mohammed Youssif Ahmed Saleh as deputy general manager.
They are to be replaced respectively by Youssif Hassan Mohammed Al Mutawa, formerly senior advocate general from the Public Prosecution office and Judge Abdul Gader Musa Mohammed Abdul Rahman.
The Financial Audit Department was established in accordance with Law 1 of 1995. The department is responsible for the audit of Dubai government bodies, together with companies in which the government owns a stake of 25 per cent or more.
