AGMC to open new BMW and Mini showroom in Dubai’s Motor City

AGMC will open a Dh200 million showroom in Motor City late next year to boost the sales of BMW and Mini cars, the auto­mobile dealer said yesterday.

AGMC, the BMW dealer in ­Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, has invested Dh100m over the past five years across all its areas of business to increase sales.

This includes new facilities in Fujairah, Deira and the expansion of its Sheikh Zayed Road showroom, the company said.

“This additional investment of more than Dh200m will allow us to further cater for the growth of the brands and better serve our loyal customers,” said Stathis Stathis, the managing director of Albatha Automotive Group, the AGMC parent company.

Car sales in the GCC in the first half of last year stood at 890,000 units, according to IHS Automotive.

The consultant had forecast overall sales of 1.88 million units for 2015, compared with 1.78 million in 2014, a growth of 5.6 per cent.

The UAE led the region in car sales growth during the first half of last year at 3.5 per cent compared with 2014, according to IHS Automotive.

Saudi Arabia followed at about 3.2 per cent, while Kuwait barely showed gains of about 1 per cent. Oman, meanwhile, was the only country to record negative growth.
