Wouldn’t it be cool to take a video of your next birthday party in 3D? Well, Samsung’s new NX300 smart camera makes it happen.

For just a couple of extra hundred dirhams, you can get the 2D/3D lens and capture your friends and family on a three-dimensional level. But the fun doesn’t stop there. The compact camera has Wi-Fi built in. With a few simple clicks, you can send your photos and videos to Facebook, YouTube and display them on your home LCD — all within seconds.

Your friends won’t hassle you to send them their photos, because the Samsung NX300 promises to shoot fast and share faster. The camera allows you to instantly send pictures to multiple emails: no need for wires, computers, or photo resize. Your friends can receive their pictures even before your gathering is over.

Advanced smartphones, including Samsung Galaxy, almost caused point-and-shoot cameras to become obsolete. Their pixel quality is good enough to turn the image into a poster. Therefore, Samsung has decided to make compact cameras its new focus. It promises the photographer a number of lenses to choose from, giving the user a professional digital SLR feel in a light camera body. While the Samsung NX300 does not exactly fit into one’s pocket, its certainly light enough to fit into your bag.

However, the NX300, which costs Dh2,699, has no viewfinder, however its display screen bends 45 and 90 degrees, allowing you to take pictures with your arms stretched on top of your head or in more challenging angles – perfect for those selfies. The colour display is another plus. With the right white balance, the colours of greenery and skin tone are very close to reality. For our artistic buddies, the camera offers a variety of filters to choose from, enhancing cold or warm colours with some vintage or retro effects.

While the Samsung NX300 display works well indoors, the outdoor experience is less than promising. It’s pretty difficult to see the display screen in bright sunlight, making it challenging for photo composition.

But for those social media fans keen to capture indoor action and share it instantly, this could be the camera for you.
