World champion breakdancers coming to Dubai

The Red Bull Air Race’s future could probably be best described as up in the air – in a figurative, not literal, sense, that is.

Last year the international aeronautical acrobatics competition, which took place six times in Abu Dhabi, was grounded by its organisers due to a string of safety concerns.

Although recent reports suggest the event may be relaunched in 2014, anyone yearning for the thrills of the daredevil flying race over the skies of the Corniche are probably in for a frustratingly lengthy wait.

Until then a slight consolation might be that another event sponsored by the the caffeine-laden energy drink is scheduled in for the  UAE.

This is the Red Bull Flying Bach show that will be coming to the Souk Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai on September 18 and 19. It features the four-time world breakdancing champions Flying Steps, dancing to the classical music of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Although it sounds an interesting fusion, some would argue that the German composer would be doing some breakdance-style rotations of his own in his grave at the thought of the concept.
