Anybody who finds themselves reminiscing for the weekend come the start of the working week can keep the party going a little longer this Sunday, January 31, in the capital: one of the hottest American rap/R&B properties of the moment, Ty Dolla $ign, is playing a special show at Mad on Yas Island.
The 30-year-old Los Angeles rapper, born Tyrone William Griffin Jr, lands in the flash Abu Dhabi club as probably the hottest rising-star ticket in Abu Dhabi since a pre-stardom The Weeknd graced People by Crystal on Saadiyat Island 18 months ago.
Coincidentally, The Weeknd is one of Griffin Jr's high-profile collaborators, having starred on a remix of Or Nah, from the latter's debut EP, Beach House.
Griffin Jr is also affiliated with two compatriot rhymers who have made headlines for very different reasons in the past week.
He's signed to Taylor Gang, the label founded by Wiz Khalifa, who was involved in a hilariously cross-purposes Twitter spat with Kanye West on Wednesday. Khalifa was also an executive producer on the debut Ty Dolla $ign album, Free TC, which was released in November, as well as featuring on his two EPs to date.
And several of Griffin Jr's songs have also been blessed with vocal contributions from the Georgia-based rapper B.o.B, who flew in the face of science and all intelligent reason when he declared on Monday that he believes the Earth is flat.

How Islam's view of posthumous transplant surgery changed
Transplants from the deceased have been carried out in hospitals across the globe for decades, but in some countries in the Middle East, including the UAE, the practise was banned until relatively recently.
Opinion has been divided as to whether organ donations from a deceased person is permissible in Islam.
The body is viewed as sacred, during and after death, thus prohibiting cremation and tattoos.
One school of thought viewed the removal of organs after death as equally impermissible.
That view has largely changed, and among scholars and indeed many in society, to be seen as permissible to save another life.
