Twitter goes wild with alternative names for rappers

As if on cue, the Twitter world is buzzing after Snoop Dogg changed his name to Snoop Lion this week, following what he describes as a life changing trip to Jamaica, earlier in the year.

The popular #UpgradedRapperNames hashtag is already trending on Twitter with users suggesting other names for famous hip-hop artists. Here are a few funny ones we spotted:

Medium Wayne (Lil’ Wayne) Medical Student Dre (Dr Dre) Lay Z (Jay Z) 50 Cent Plus Tax (50 Cent) And last but not least, P Didn’t (P Diddy)

Snoop Lion, real name Calvin Broadus, is also the subject of a new documentary ‘Reincarnated’ which will debut at the Toronto International Film Festival next month with a  behind the scenes look at the making of his new reggae album of the same name. The documentary also chronicles his journey onto a more spiritual path in life, where Snoop, says he is shedding the gangster rap image to make music his children can listen to.
