Mademoiselle C Thursday, 3.45pm, Marina Mall Vox 1 If you loved The September Issue back in 2009, about the putting together of Vogue’s meatiest monthly issue, then this will be right up your (fashion) avenue. Mademoiselle C is Carine Roitfeld, France’s iconic answer to Anna Wintour. Having left her post at the head of Vogue Paris in 2011, this documentary follows Ms C as she traverses the various trials and tribulations to launch her newest magazine, CR Fashion Book. And of course, it’s chock full of cameos, including Tom Ford, Donatella Versace and Karl Lagerfeld. Villa 69 Thursday, 4pm, Vox 5 Among the decent crop of films financially supported by the festival getting their world premiere this year, Villa 69 by the Egyptian director Ayten Amin is a light social drama following a man living in isolation in his own home. As characters from his past begin to infiltrate this solitary existence, gradual changes are made to his somewhat stubborn view of the world. It also stars the Abu Dhabi Film Festival regular Khaled Abol Naga (Microphone). Dial M For Murder Thursday, 9.30pm, Vox 5 The master of suspense gets an extra dimension. Hitchcock’s 1954 classic, voted the ninth best mystery movie by the American Film Institute and starring Grace Kelly, Ray Milland and Robert Cummins, has been lovingly restored to its original 3-D. The complex web of deceit, blackmail and murder is still the same edge-of-the-seat story as before, but now those scissors might actually look like they’re coming right at you!
