Don't forget to catch the Footsteps of Thesiger documentary, broadcast tonight at 10pm on the Al Emarat channel, chronicling how the adventurer Adrian Hayes, along with the Emiratis Saeed Rashid Al Mesafri and Ghafan Mohammed Al Jabri, retraced the journey of Sir Wilfred Thesiger through the scorching Empty Quarter in the Arabian Peninsula.
Alexis Girardet, who directed the series, said: "The opportunity to become part of this great expedition was a real gift. It was an epic place to be and that is what we tried to capture. Hopefully the audience will get a sense of that … the echoes of history that pervade every part of this unique place."
