The paint tones that are shading it for summer

Rich, nature-inspired tones are the colour trend of the season, according to global coatings company Jotun.

For its spring/summer collection, Jotun has unveiled six new paint shades – each taking reference from the natural world.

“There is a tendency [to] want to bring nature into our homes. Green hues have been in the trend picture for a while, and now it’s the flowers that are of great inspiration – both in pattern designs or just bold colours,” says Lisbeth Larsen, Jotun’s global colour and creative director.

The new shades, which include the aptly named Happiness, April Green, Lounge, Roz, Jurassic Grey and Sun, are decidedly upbeat, offering subtle variations of green, pink and yellow hues.

Use April Green in your kitchen or living areas, particularly if you’re a fan of a more rustic or shabby-chic aesthetic. Pair it with strong shades of teal, or more muted beiges, depending on how bold you want to be.

Happiness is a subtle shade of pink that will look best paired with white or black, while Roz is a stronger variation of the pink theme that should probably be confined to single accent walls.

Sun, meanwhile, is a subdued yellow with warm red undertones that will complement green and beige hues perfectly.

“Jotun’s spring/summer collection embodies a ‘young’ character, which is reflective in its fresh approach of using these shades of the season. When combined with colourful detail and floral fabrics, the uplifting mood underscores humour and playfulness. This will also appeal to those who believe ‘less is more’ when the shades are beautifully combined with white tones, or black for a sophisticated impression,” adds Larsen.

The new shades, available in Jotun’s Fenomastic My Home Rich Matt paint, cost Dh14 to Dh16 per litre, and are available now from Jotun stores across the UAE.
