On Sowwah Island, a new central business district is rising. On Reem, three master developers are building a mixed-use city within a city. On Saadiyat, the Tourism Developent & Investment Company is overseeing the construction of a new cultural district with world-renowned museums. It appears that the next frontier for this expansion is the massive Hudayriat Island to the south of the main island. The northern part is a Department of Presidential Affairs project that is undisclosed at this point, but the southern part is slated to become Emirati housing of some kind. The Abu Dhabi Plan 2030 says South Hudayriat will be expanded southwards and be composed of smaller islands, divided by waterways. Aecom is currently conducting a study to determine how people will get to and from the island. One option is a combination of a bridge and a tunnel. <i>The map above is the third chapter of our efforts to map out all of Abu Dhabi's developments and plans.
