The Laughter Factory is coming back to Abu Dhabi

Good news comedy fans — the much-missed Laughter Factory will make a rather welcome return to Abu Dhabi.

Recently celebrating 18 years of bringing quality comedy to the emirates, the monthly funny fest has been sadly absent from the capital since May 2014.

The comedy institution kicks off a new residency at the Park Rotana/Park Arjaan by Rotana on Wednesday, January 7.

Expect the usual format of three top comics, with this month's show starring Ben Norris, a veteran of 20 years who has guested on top UK shows Never Mind the Buzzcocks, They Think It's All Over and Mock the Week.

Also on the bill is Joe Lycett, winner of Chortle’s Best Newcomer award in 2010, and Edniburgh Fringe regular Gorden Southern.

Organisers have said it’s not yet clear if the event will take place every month moving forward — so fans should do their bit and get out there to support live comedy.

Dubai dwellers are still, of course, spoilt for choice on where to catch some laughs. Check the full list of dates below.

Mia Man’s tips for fermentation

- Start with a simple recipe such as yogurt or sauerkraut

- Keep your hands and kitchen tools clean. Sanitize knives, cutting boards, tongs and storage jars with boiling water before you start.

- Mold is bad: the colour pink is a sign of mold. If yogurt turns pink as it ferments, you need to discard it and start again. For kraut, if you remove the top leaves and see any sign of mold, you should discard the batch.

- Always use clean, closed, airtight lids and containers such as mason jars when fermenting yogurt and kraut. Keep the lid closed to prevent insects and contaminants from getting in.
