It is an annual tradition. The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature kicked off on Tuesday with a choir of traditionally clothed Dubai students performing the event’s anthem at The Cultural and Scientific Association in Al Mamzar.
Composed by Yousef Khan with lyrics wrote by the festival’s assistant director Yvette Judge and Joan Scott-Minter, the anthem explores this year’s festival theme of Wonderland. Below are the lyrics:
When life seems full of troubles and things can be unfair
There is a world where we can go, a place we all can share
A land of magic, hopes and dreams, where Warhorse is free to roam
And Alice finds a Gruffalo and leads him safely home
Sprinkle stardust, train a dragon, ride a dolphin on a wave
Face the challenge, find the treasure, wear your medal when you’re brave
Mix your potions, cast your spells, decipher maps and chase the trail
If it’s all inside your head that’s where it’s meant to be
In Wonderland you’re who you are, you are forever free
Wonderland’s for everyone, no matter who you are
Look above beyond the clouds and find your magic star
Read a book, dive into it, let the author be your guide
In the land of storybooks, adventure waits inside
The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature continues until on Saturday May 7. For details visit www.emirateslitfest.com
