Tell your cabbie – Starwood hotels is distributing iftar packs to taxi drivers

Don’t forget to tell the driver every time you hail a cab – iftar boxes will be handed out at sunset to cabs at Starwood hotels and resorts in the Emirates on July 8, this Ramadan.

Taxi drivers who drive through the main entrance of any of the participating hotels will receive complimentary iftar packs to break their fast. Running at 40 hotels in the Middle East this year, the Iftar for Cabs campaign has also been extended to Uber drivers. The packs will contain a food and beverages prepared by the in-house catering team.

The hotel group distributed more than 3,000 packs to cab drivers across the region last year.

Freezer tips

  • Always make sure food is completely cool before freezing.
  • If you’re cooking in large batches, divide into either family-sized or individual portions to freeze.
  • Ensure the food is well wrapped in foil or cling film. Even better, store in fully sealable, labelled containers or zip-lock freezer bags.
  • The easiest and safest way to defrost items such as the stews and sauces mentioned is to do so in the fridge for several hours or overnight.
