Bilal star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje may be at DIFF to promote the Dubai produced animated feature that premiered on Thursday night, but it can't have escaped too many people's notice that he's also set to star in one of the most hotly anticipated films of 2016, the DC ensemble piece that hopes to bring DC Comics cinematic output up to a a similar level to nemesis Marvel, Suicide Squad.
When we caught up with him at the festival, he seemed confident the movie wil lset a new standard in superhero cinematic fare: “All I can say is this one’s gonna rock you,” he said. “It’s gonna change the bar in terms of how superhero movies are done. There’s gonna be a distinctive edge to this that has been lacking I think, and it’s gonna be a relief to see something really different. Darkly devilish, I would say.”
The movie already looks great, and while one of it’s stars is hardly likely to say it’s not, this does all sound rather promising.
