On what would have been his 81st birthday, the film director Yash Chopra has been remembered by the Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Khan, 47, worked with Chopra from his early days as an actor in 1993's Darr, right up until their final project together – last year's Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Speaking at a memorial event for Chopra in New Delhi, Khan said: "I am lucky to have the opportunity to have worked with the most fearless filmmaker that the country will ever have." Chopra died in October 2012 of dengue fever. – IANS

Jack Johnson tops Billboard 200

The Hawaiian folk singer Jack Johnson landed his fourth No 1 album on the Billboard 200 album chart this week with From Here to Now to You. The country music singer Justin Moore debuted at No 2 with his album Off the Beaten Path, while fellow country music artist Chris Young came in at No 3 with A.M. On the digital songs chart, which measures download sales, the New Zealand newcomer Lorde shot to the top with her single Royals. Lorde's song overtook Katy Perry's Roar, which remained at No 2 for a second week, while Miley Cyrus's Wrecking Ball dropped from No 1 to No 3 this week. – Reuters

Jay Z collaborates with retail store

Jay Z, who will perform at the Formula One Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi on November 1, is collaborating with the retail giant Barneys New York to create an "immersive gallery space" at its flagship store in November. The partnership will include limited-edition Jay Z designs including watches and a humidor, along with products from Balenciaga, Balmain, Lanvin, Proenza Schouler and other designers, all in a palette of black, white, gold and silver. A quarter of sales proceeds will go to Jay Z's Shawn Carter Foundation, which helps low-income students cover college costs. In a statement, Jay Z said the project takes inspiration from "the slickness, energy and innovation of New York City". – AP

Abhishek refutes starring role with Aishwarya in Happy Anniversary

Abhishek Bachchan has refused to confirm the rumours that he will be starring opposite his wife Aishwarya Rai in the new film Happy Anniversary. Bachchan was interviewed while at an event in Kolkata to launch a new Omega watch store. "We have not read the script. Nothing has been finalised," Bachchan said about Happy Anniversary, which will be the directorial debut of his friend Prahlad Kakkar. Bachchan will be next seen reprising his role of the supercop Jai Dixit in the third instalment of the Dhoom franchise. – IANS

De Niro takes over Gandolfini’s TV role

HBO says Robert De Niro will step into a project that was thrown into question by the death of James Gandolfini. De Niro is taking on the role of a New York City lawyer handling a murder case in the mini-series Criminal Justice. Gandolfini, who had played the role in the pilot episode, died in June at the age of 51 after suffering a heart attack. – AP
