While grabbing a hot drink at the Marina Mall Caribou Coffee outlet the other day, I was so taken with a travel mug they had for sale that I almost bought it. Without thinking. The price? Dh125. That's a lot for a travel mug in any country. But when I flipped over the mug while searching for the price, I saw that it still had the original (I assume US) price on it. $15.99. Yep, that's not even Dh60. Making this more than double the price just for the privilege of buying it in the UAE. I understand things will be more expensive here, and we get used to that, simply owing to the cost of getting them here. But more than double the price? That's a ripoff, for sure.
