Reptile month at Al Ain Zoo

They're all about the snakes, lizards and crocodiles this month at Al Ain Zoo.

The wildlife park is putting on its Reptile Month, in which it showcases its vast collection of the scaly creatures.

The zoo’s reptile house is home to 520 specimens of 32 different species. Throughout May there will be regular events where visitors can get to learn more about these animals.

These include Reptile of the Week, which will spotlight various species of snakes, with talks by zookeepers.

There will also be the chance to witness crocodile feeding sessions every Thursday at 5pm, and snake feeding sessions on Thursdays at 9pm.

With the summer heatwave approaching, the zoo has also changed its operating hours. To give visitors a chance to enjoy the cooler evening temperatures, the facility will be open from 4pm to 10pm until September 30.

The five pillars of Islam
What is graphene?

Graphene is extracted from graphite and is made up of pure carbon.

It is 200 times more resistant than steel and five times lighter than aluminum.

It conducts electricity better than any other material at room temperature.

It is thought that graphene could boost the useful life of batteries by 10 per cent.

Graphene can also detect cancer cells in the early stages of the disease.

The material was first discovered when Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov were 'playing' with graphite at the University of Manchester in 2004.
