Piers Morgan bans Ann Coulter from his show

Coulter is just the latest in a string of potential guests Morgan has banned from his show Piers Morgan Tonight.

Ann Coulter, an American conservative social commentator, who has been banned "for life" from appearing on Piers Morgan's CNN show, is in good company.

The host known for banning guests has a growing list of people he won't have on his show for various reasons.

While he has no problem speaking to Lady Gaga, Morgan draws the line at Madonna, whom he described to the Daily Express as being "too vegan for TV".

Other people on the list are Paul McCartney's ex-wife Heather Mills and Cherie Blair, the wife of the former British prime minister Tony Blair. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Morgan said his decision to ban Blair was because he feared a physical altercation. "Every single meeting I had with [Tony Blair's] wife ended in disaster," he said. "It was just one of those terrible clashes of personalities.

"I think we'd have to ban Cherie simply because it would get violent. She would attack me."

Coulter is the latest to be swiftly dealt with, after cancelling a scheduled appearance last week to appear on the rival network Fox News instead.

When the American political pundit tweeted her delight at her forthcoming appearance on the Fox News talk show Hannity, which is a direct competitor to Piers Morgan Tonight, Morgan shot back: "Wow. In that case you just banned yourself for life from my show. Congrats."

Coulter's decision to cancel her interview with the Briton may have stemmed from her first appearance, when she repeatedly shot down Morgan's attempts to ask her about her private life.
