Among the delights that can be found in the now-officially opened Courtyard by Marriott World Trade Centre, Abu Dhabi is a real rarity for the capital: an utterly charming rooftop bar.

Up & Below, which is on the 12th floor and looks out onto Hamdan Street over the adjacent World Trade Centre Mall, is a mix of white bar tables, rattan chairs, and several trendy swings suspended from a wood lattice overhang, lit by fanciful globe lights and several outdoor fireplaces.

Guests to the opening party Sunday night were treated to a mellow vibe, a bit of dancing, as well as oysters, foie gras, charcuterie, a slider and nacho station, and an assortment of delicious drinks and mocktails.

On the ground floor, the hotel’s trendy Fifth Street Cafe - which does a mean flat white and has an amazing breakfast menu, including hard-to-find quinoa porridge with berries - has already become a favourite spot to work during the day and watch live sports at night.
